The SHTTM is one of the most unique schools in the university. The school was created to enable the creation of fields that would specifically and adequately deal with the challenges in hospitality and tourism sector. The school started way back in 2004 as a department with a few students. The number has grown tremendously giving room for growth to become a school.
Currently the school has over seven hundred and fifty (750) students with nine (9) programmes. SHTTM is housed within the student center complex and has modern art facility with two training restaurant, two demonstration kitchens, ten training guest rooms, a fully equipped laundry section, a tourism gallery, a conference room, classrooms and offices. The school endeavors to continue offering quality training to the students. Students are offered compulsory attachments/internship sourced and placed by the various departments from the industry.
To be practically oriented school in the transition of knowledge-based and service-oriented training for hospitality and tourism sector internationally.

The school has two departments:
- Department of Hospitality Management.
- Department of Travel and Tourism Management.
